Rusteros is a nearly Vanilla Rust server that has a lot going for it considering it really only adds the basic plugins. The nice thing about Rusteros is that it thoughtfully adds in mods and plugins that compliment each other. Just type /help in chat to see a nice list of commands and features on the server.
Staying true to the mostly Vanilla theme, Rusteros has a 2x gather rate, half craft and a leveling system that is far from overpowered. You will get a 5% bonus per level of mining, crafting, wood chopping and skinning. The level up is nicely set to make you feel like you still need to work a bit for your level, but you will reap the rewards over time.
Aside from gather are some more nicely thought out plugins including faster smelting and better quarrys/pumpjacks (2x). The smelting isn’t by any means instant but it does have a nice hitch in its step to allow you to get your smelt on and them move on so you don’t spend days at the furnace.
Upgrading structures has been made slightly easier with quick hammer upgrades and while the server claims to have slightly higher amounts of airdrops, we didn’t see one over the course of 30 minutes with 40 people online. Of course, maybe it’s set at a 60 minute interval with more airdrops coming at one time. Either way, not game-breaking at all, just something we noticed.
Rusteros sports the clan plugin allowing for the making and breaking of clans and clan names. Promoting and demoting members and clan chat. At first glance, you may not think this plugin sounds “almost vanilla” but it really is a great tool for smaller groups or even lone wolves to pick up a teammate or 2 even if it is for a short while.
You will notice the most common GUI on screen with your heli and airdrop alert bars, sleeper and online player info and so on. As for other notable plugins, the server has personal stats, leaderboards and even a rock and torch kit in case you lose yours. I can honestly say since the advent of resources on the ground, I have never needed to look for a rock.
Overall, a nice almost Vanilla server that is well worth a try. Rusteros doesn’t do anything so crazy that it would stand out at first glance, but it does a lot of the little things that when added up make this the type of server that you would want to play onfor entire wipe cycle in. 40+ players off peak (6am est), is a pretty nice following and you really get the feeling that the players have a history with each other.
